讲师介绍
刘翠艳(Maggie C.Y. Lau Vetter)，博士，博士生导师
毕业于香港大学，于2002及2007年分别取得理科本科（地球生命科学）和理科博士（微生物生态学）学位。拥有丰富的博士后经验，曾于香港大学当助理研究教授和美国普林斯顿大学当副研究员。对探索极端环境（如温泉、乾罕区、深部生物圈和南北极）中的微生物群落特别有兴趣，尤其是它们在生物地球化循环中的作用，及群落之间和群落与环境之间的相互作用。
在球生物学的主要研究领域是地球生物学和天体生物学。研究方向包括
利用高通量测序数据和生物信息学来了调查存在在深部的未培养微生物的多样性，和它们的代谢潜能和代谢表现；
开发靶向特定代谢途径的荧光标记科技；
利用深部生物圈作为地外海洋生物圈的类比，以加深我们对的地外生物的解。
直播概要
Maggie is new to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). With help from others, she is slowly incorporating CFD in her research. Considering that her CFD-related work is still at the infant stage, it would be more beneficial to the CFD community if the talk touches on some common grounds (i.e. non-discipline-specific).
In this talk, Maggie will begin with a brief introduction of her research field (Geomicrobiology & Astrobiology). Then she will share stories about the important decision-making points and the thought-processes she personally went through or observed along the path of pursuing a research career. She hopes her sharing will bring encouragement and inspiration to scientists-in-training.
